Leap Day in my Family Tree
A leap year is a calendar year that has an extra day. This day is added to keep the day/date calendar lined up with the astronomical year. Because the movements of the planets do not repeat in exactly whole days, a “leap day” is necessary to keep our day-to-day calendar lined up with our solar system.
My Family Tree
To date, I have 7431 individuals in my family tree database. Those people represent 2683 families and nearly 13,000 events.
The odds of a Leap Day birthday are 1 in 1461. So, statistically speaking, I should have 3 Leaplings (persons born on February 29th) and at least a couple other Leap Day happenings.
Nope
I scoured my tree and found that there is only one event associated with Leap Day, February 29th.
